We are a congregation that is rooted in the oldest denomination in North America, the Dutch Reformed Church, today known as The Reformed Church In America.
We believe that all humanity is created in the image and likeness of God, therefore we welcome, include and affirm all persons because we believe that God welcomes, includes and affirms all persons.
We believe in the words of the Apostle’s Creed, namely that there is one God who works lovingly and mysteriously as Heavenly Parent, Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit. And we believe that we are one very unique expression of the holy catholic church of Jesus Christ, catholic meaning universal and eternal.
We believe in the sixteenth century movement called the Reformation, which brings us back to our true roots of scripture-oriented theology and worship of one God. We do not believe that we are reformed from anything such as another Christian denomination, but we are reformed to something... specifically we are reformed to the Word of God.
We believe that the Word of God is active and alive. And because of that we are Reformed And Always Reforming. We have to constantly look at our present realities through the lens of God's Word as we are guided by the Holy Spirit. When we are truly humble and seeking God's calling upon our lives, our congregation, and our world, God guides us to be transformed and transforming.
In the Reformation we are reminded of the five solas:
We believe that the Word of God is active and alive. And because of that we are Reformed And Always Reforming. We have to constantly look at our present realities through the lens of God's Word as we are guided by the Holy Spirit. When we are truly humble and seeking God's calling upon our lives, our congregation, and our world, God guides us to be transformed and transforming.
We believe that God is a God of justice, mercy and love, and we as followers of Jesus Christ are called to work towards bringing justice, mercy and love to our world. We believe that in the life of Jesus Christ, who laid down his life for us, we find our own model in the world as both messengers and vessels of justice, mercy and love.
We believe that we are a congregation that is called to love God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength, and that we are called to love all humankind as we love ourselves. We practice such love in worship, in fellowship, in growing together as disciples and serving Jesus in mission. We are a community that strives to care both in word and action for each other and those who have need.
We believe that when we serve those in need – that when we feed the hungry, visit the prisoner, advocate for the least among us – that is then that we minister unto Jesus Christ himself who is present in the least among us (Matthew 25:40).
